Meghalaya, a place where we can experience both nature and adventure. A popular and beautiful state of North East India, this is what everyone should explore once in a lifetime. Not only abroad but in India, we have so many astonishing places to be explored. Although it is popularly known as Scotland of East India, let’s bang on and explore this destination with famous waterfalls and caves, double-decker bridge, Shillong landscape and so much more.
The Sacred Forest, Mawphlang has only one strict rule that nothing is allowed to take out of this sacred grove. Other than this, you will experience an amazing view right by entering to the lush green nature - an interconnection between trees and plants for which some of them are over 1000 years old. Double-decker living footbridge, Cherrapunji is a 150+ year-old man made natural wonder which is so unique and astounding. Though the trek is tiring at the end, it is out of the world experience.
Arwah caves are so artistic and beautiful and while on the way you can have a scenic wooden bridge which takes you along the Khasi hills to the entrance of these caves. I am sure one must like to have a refreshing walk around the misty showers of the waterfalls that fall around the bridge. Nohkalikai falls is one of the highest waterfalls in India and for some amazing views to see, this is a must visit waterfall there. Seven Sisters’ waterfalls have seven different waterfalls falling adjacent to each other. Sounds interesting? Bring it on.
Dawki is a place where we can see India-Bangladesh border and it doesn’t look like a border as we can spot Bangladeshi tourists on the other side. Barapani scenic beauty is an eye-opener by its beauty as it is a man-made lake Umiam. Krang Suri waterfalls is a wonderful place to visit as we have to cross a forest to see a giant cascade. The color of the pool is what attracts the visitors as it is the deep copper sulfate blue. We can feel like what we watch in Hollywood films.
We will be exploring the beauty of Shillong along with the local sightseeing spots and will leave our footprints on the paths of Meghalaya and take back with us tons of memories to cherish!
